Ancient Moment Part 1 documents a meeting that could only have happened once — and had the wisdom to capture it in a single, uninterrupted take. The first collaboration between Korean contemporary music ensemble WhatWhy Art and Seoul underground electronic music collective vurt., the record brings together two pairs of performers from entirely distinct sonic worlds and allows them to find, in real time, a shared language neither could have arrived at alone.

The A-side belongs to daegeum player Hong Yoo and electronic musician Unjin — the centuries-old Korean bamboo flute's breath-shaped vibrations meeting the inorganic precision of electrical signal and circuit in a dialogue that expands both vocabularies simultaneously.

The flip pairs gayageum player Hwayoung Lee with ambient duo Hosoo, the plucked string instrument's physical resonance dissolving into and emerging from layers of electronic atmosphere with a fluency that makes the cultural distance between the two feel entirely incidental.

Recorded at STUDIO Y in Seoul and mastered by Giuseppe Tillieci, Ancient Moment Part 1 is a record of a free journey — two worlds colliding and merging, cultural boundaries dismantled and aesthetic hierarchies broken. Essential listening.
