Lyot is one of the first and most important tracks that truly crystallised the dub techno sound. It has a slow-building, almost haunting atmosphere, with a deep, rolling bassline, hazy dub chords, and minimalist, syncopated percussion.

Unlike Basic Channel’s own murky, submerged sound, Lyot feels slightly clearer and sharper, but still very much hypnotic and meditative. In a way, Lyot captures that "between worlds" feeling: part Detroit techno (you can hear shades of Carl Craig, Model 500), part Berlin dub abstraction.
