Gom Jabbar marks The Mountain People's premiere full EP outside their own imprint — and Thomas Melchior's My King Is Light feels like a natural landing pad for it. Named after the poison-tipped needle of Dune lore, the record carries that same quality of quiet, concentrated intensity: four tracks of desert planet house that feel excavated rather than produced, as though the music was always buried somewhere in the sand waiting to be found.
Sub-basses shatter the ground beneath vintage stabs and wobbling chords, while otherworldly chanting drifts through the mix like heat haze over open terrain. The Bottomless Mix of the title track closes the record by going deeper still — stripping the framework back until only the most essential elements remain, suspended in space. Hypnotic, hermetic and entirely its own thing.
