Orion Records presents its first album — Debut by label bosses Orion, a record that moves in a broader direction than the releases that have shaped the imprint’s identity while keeping a recognisable tone. Eight tracks that traverse ambient soundscapes, breakbeat rhythms, syncopated grooves and deeper club-oriented territory without ever losing their focus on sound experimentation. To feel with your eyes closed.
The record bleeps and bloops with a deeply textural, atmospheric quality — sci-fi hi-fi electronics moving between ambient and experimental textures, sound design and deep chugging house with the fluid, unhurried logic of a duo comfortable operating across all of it. Crystal opens proceedings in suitably immersive fashion before the record shifts through its various shades with the confidence of producers who understand that breadth and coherence need not be in conflict. Endlessrun and Neon bring the album to a close with the kind of patient, absorbing energy that the whole record has been building toward. A debut album that announces both the label and the duo with quiet authority.
