Stefan Kozalla's Adolf Noise project has always operated in a parallel universe to his better-known DJ Koze alias — more absurdist, more oblique, and considerably stranger. Wo Die Rammelwolle Fliegt, originally released on Hamburg's Buback in April 2005 with Japanese manga-style artwork by Björn Kuhnke, is the debut full-length from Adolf Noise and a record that warmly combines music and language into a lysergic rabbit hole of oddball sounds spanning chiptune, field recordings, movie effects, downtempo and experimental electronics. First reissued now on Pampa Records — remastered in full, arriving in a limited pressing of 3000 copies worldwide on 140g black vinyl with a 10" bonus disc — it finally receives the physical restoration it always deserved.
Kozalla became a household name in German club culture through Fischmob, consecutive Best DJ Of The Year votes in SPEX and INTRO, and his long relationship with Kompakt from 2003 onward. But Wo Die Rammelwolle Fliegt belongs to a different register entirely — a relaxed audio collage of surprises without end, music and language so fondly intertwined that it genuinely warms the heart. M.i.s.s. UFO '72 is the standout for many — pure ambient bliss. The bonus 10" adds three tracks including the 2001 underground cult hit Deine Reime Sind Schweine (Regelrechte Schweine), long a chaotic fan favourite and Adolf Noise catalogue staple.
