Store Selects returns for episode 008, filmed live from Inverted Audio Record Store in Peckham.
Presented by Inverted Audio founder Tom Durston, this instalment spans a particularly wide range of formats and labels — moving between new vinyl arrivals and a substantial selection of CDs, with Dial, Smallville, Ostgut Ton and Kompakt each represented across both. Opening the vinyl selection is Telefon Tel Aviv's Fahrenheit Fair Enough, the Chicago duo's debut album and one of the most enduring records in the IDM and leftfield electronic canon. Released in 2001, it remains a landmark of emotionally charged digital sound design — intricate percussion, processed voices and a warmth rarely found in music of this kind.
Eden Aurelius follows with Entre Nous, while Kelovolt's Diese Fragile Präsenz moves into more austere, textural territory — minimal and precise, the kind of record that rewards patient listening. Miles' Vault continues in a similarly restrained direction before Barker's Debiasing EP shifts the energy, bringing his characteristic precision to denser, more rhythmically complex material.
Hallucinator's Landlocked and Mountain People's Raw Pitch EP offer further depth, the latter leaning into a raw, stripped-back approach to club music that sits comfortably alongside the more considered selections here. Rupert Moarnie's Fog Gathering and Project Indigo's Efflorescence II extend the episode further into atmospheric and ambient-adjacent territory.
James K's Pet and Tracey's Biostar represent two distinct but complementary approaches to voice and electronics, each bringing a more song-adjacent sensibility to the selection. Lawrence's Films and Windows Remixed — a reworking of his 2004 album on Dial — provides a natural bridge between the vinyl and CD sections, connecting the store's current stock to the deep Dial back catalogue explored in the second half of the episode. Irakli's Major Signals closes the vinyl selection with precision and purpose.
The CD section opens with a concentrated focus on three labels that have shaped underground electronic music across the past two decades. Dial is represented by four titles: Pawel's self-titled debut, Efdemin's Chicago, John Roberts' Glass Eights, and the label's 2010 compilation — together forming a cross-section of the Hamburg imprint's character: melodic rigour, restraint and an instinct for the emotive potential of minimal sound.
Smallville follows with three of its most significant releases — Christopher Rau's Two, STL's At Disconnected Moments, and Moomin's The Story About You — each embodying the Hamburg label's commitment to deep, unhurried music with genuine warmth at its core.
Ostgut Ton is represented by Barker's Utility and two Planetary Assault System albums: The Messenger and Arc Angel — records that trace Luke Slater's project through its most expansive and industrially charged phases.
