Soma Quality Recordings, commonly known as Soma Records, is an independent record label based in Glasgow, Scotland. Co-founded in 1991 by the electronic music duo Slam (Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle), Dave Clarke, and Glenn Gibbons, the label has been instrumental in promoting techno and house music.
In 1994, Soma Records released its first various artists compilation album titled "Soma Quality Recordings Vol. 1." This compilation showcased the label's early roster and provided a platform for emerging electronic artists. The album features a blend of deep house and techno tracks, reflecting the vibrant electronic music scene of the time. Notably, the compilation includes "Alive" by Daft Punk, marking one of their early releases before achieving international fame.
