Matthew Kent introduces Short Span’s first various artist compilation, Short Tracks - a two-disc snapshot of a label still in its infancy, launched in 2025, but already carving out a distinct identity. 

Featuring artists who’ve helped shape the label’s opening chapter alongside close friends, admired peers, and producers with forthcoming releases already in motion, the compilation feels like both a document of the present and a signal of what’s ahead.

It’s Short Span setting the table: dialled-in dub, ambient and techno in different shades and textures, sequenced like a mixtape across two flowing discs - designed to be heard front to back or dipped into over time, with each track offering a glimpse of the label’s evolving world and the sounds it plans to champion into 2026 and beyond.

Short Tracks brings together a killer spread of artists across dub, ambient and techno, including Mount Kimbie & Klaus with the long-awaited “The People Took”, cosmic electronics from Yu Su (“Objet petit a”), and deep-textured club mutations from a.m.p ft. b.p.p (“Sapphire (SP Mix)”).

Elsewhere, Mammo and Conna Haraway deliver heads-down hypnotics, while caitlin c harvey, Lucas Dupuy, and Eden Aurelius add weightless, emotive ambient pressure. The compilation also taps into the label’s wider ecosystem via intermountain, Trailcam, Nadia Khan, Gi Gi, and Yugen Disciple - a sharp snapshot of the Short Span sound and a strong hint of what’s coming next.
