The second instalment of the Earquake series moves the clock forward one year and finds Wolfgang Voigt's alias-cycling already operating at full velocity. Twelve tracks across four sides — Mike Ink dominant throughout, Vinyl Countdown and Dextro NRG filling in the picture — each one a snapshot of a Cologne scene talking to machines in the land of happiness, working out what it means for art and artifice to coexist.
Where Earquake 1991 captured the raw acid hysteria of the scene's earliest transmissions, 1992 shows the language beginning to diversify. Mike Ink's contributions move between the early M:I:5 template and something looser and more exploratory — Swoon, Marsch Ins Roxy and Step Forward each pulling in slightly different directions without losing the thread. Vinyl Countdown's four tracks offer texture and contrast, Solitude and Paul in particular carrying a melodic warmth that sits against the harder Mike Ink material with surprising coherence. Time for change — and the music reflects it.
