Over two years in the making and drawing on a decade of synth programming and development, Stephen Hitchell's Aurora's Dream is reawakened. Released in a limited edition of 100 copies in eco-friendly dual digipak with custom mounted photo print, this is Variant at his most expansive and painstakingly considered — two versions of a single piece that together constitute a complete and immersive sonic world.
The inspiration stems from a new method of seeing and hearing through re-synthesised harmonic tables and algorithmic structures creating an analogue ocean of unexplored sounds. Painstakingly developed sound design, every finite detail attended to — the original concept revisited in search of sonic existence within the mind, capturing the essence of brain waves through sound and vibrational healing. The Astral Mix and Lucid Mix approach the same material from different states of consciousness, light and apparition appearing and disappearing across both discs. Just as sound can interrupt and influence a dream, so Aurora's Dream moves between foreboding and invitation, ominous and luminous in equal measure. Epiphanies towards enlightenment.
