The Mountain People deliver another quality instalment with mountain025 — three tracks that take the Zurich duo’s signature minimal deep house a little further than usual, with support already logged from Yamour, Lawrence, Mapache, Prosumer and Denis Kaznacheev among others. The B-side carries a welcome addition: a slightly edited and remastered version of the sought-after mountain021.1, which has had no copies available on Discogs for over a year. Now spread across an entire side at 45 RPM, it finally gets the space it deserves.
The title track Memorandum — heard at Giegling showcases — is the centrepiece, transporting you to sunny climes through casual percussive beats and melancholic pads that feel like a fresh breeze on a hot summer’s day. Semper follows on the A-side as an exercise in driving bass minimalism, the kind of stripped-back, functional cut that demonstrates exactly why The Mountain People have built such a dedicated following over nearly two decades. Three tracks of unhurried, deceptively simple deep house from one of Switzerland’s most reliable underground voices.
