London-based producer Samson A.K returns to his Ideal State imprint with Myrrh / Spare Me — two originals and two interventions of varying degrees of damage, limited to 150 hand-stamped white label copies and mastered by Miles Whittaker. Following last year's debut vinyl release Heavy Birds Drop, this is a significant step forward: darker, more cavernous and with two remixers whose reputations speak for themselves.
Beau Wanzer — Chicago's most mischievous knob-twiddler, having left his mark on L.I.E.S., Rush Hour, Jealous God and Dark Entries — brings a cavernous, dark-style EBM electro sensibility to Spare Me, transforming Samson A.K's already dark and brooding original into something altogether more destabilising. Krikor — the Parisian producer whose exploits trace back to the French Touch era and have since appeared on L.I.E.S., Disco Halal and Tigersushi among others — takes Myrrh into spacey, speaker-tearing territory with a spruced-up skanky rhythm that sits in a world entirely its own. Two originals, two interventions. Four tracks, one white label. Move quickly — 150 copies only.
