Round Four is Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald (Basic Channel) under a different alias for their Main Street Records label.
As with Round Three – Acting Crazy, the goal here was to fuse dub reggae, deep house, and techno minimalism, but with a slightly more organic, emotional feeling. The vocalist is again Tikiman (aka Paul St. Hilaire), the deeply soulful voice of Berlin’s dub techno movement.
The lyrics are about searching for hope, resilience, persistence — classic reggae themes filtered through Berlin’s cold urban atmosphere. There’s a real sense of journey: not a club banger, but a meditative, emotional experience.
