Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi – The Four Seasons is a 2012 album where Richter reimagines Antonio Vivaldi's iconic The Four Seasons. Rather than a straightforward reinterpretation, Richter discards approximately 75% of Vivaldi's original material, retaining select motifs which he loops and phases to craft a minimalist, postmodern soundscape.
The album features violinist Daniel Hope and the Konzerthaus Kammerorchester Berlin, conducted by André de Ridder. It was recorded at B-Sharp Studios in Berlin and released by Deutsche Grammophon on August 31, 2012. Richter's approach infuses the baroque classic with contemporary sensibilities, emphasising rhythmic drive and emotional depth. The result is a piece that feels both familiar and refreshingly new, bridging the gap between 18th-century composition and 21st-century minimalism.
