Natal Zaks returns as Picture with a four-track EP on P-TON, npm's sub label, now repressed. Pristine dub techno with clean lines and minimal fuss from the Danish producer — music built for reduced spaces and long-form movement, working through pressure rather than excess and placing delayed dub chords, low-end repetition and clipped drum programming into a tight, functional frame.
Faaaaaaaaa opens with the right amount of swing and pop under sleek chords — vibrant pulse, waking chords, liquid sunlight — before Gaaaaaaaaaa locks you into an endless cycle of hypnotic, transient rhythm and brain-cleansing thought. The B-side deepens the mood considerably: Kaaaaaaaa inhabits a darker world of cavernous bass, icy futurism and looping underwater thrum, while Tuuuuuuuu closes the record with a nod to the best of Basic Channel — a rhythmic tonic that thumps with the fresh, focused conviction of dub techno that reinvents nothing but does everything exceptionally well.
