Following up February's Eeeeeeee, Denmark-based producer Picture — the alias of Natal Zaks — returns to Sheffield's Short Span with Uuuuuuuu. A double 12" with full sleeve, metallic silver inners and silver centres, mastered by Mike Grinser at Manmade with artwork by Mammo.Works, the release continues to explore similar soundscapes to its predecessor — deep, dubbed-out and subtly experimental, balancing unease and immersion in equal measure across seven extended pieces.
Short Span has quickly positioned itself at the deeper end of the dub techno spectrum. Founded by Matthew Kent and dedicated to long-form, dubbed-out and ambient-inspired material, the label blends classic influences with a spacious, modern edge — and Uuuuuuuu sits comfortably within that vision. Zaks moves through seven tracks with the same patient, atmospheric language that made Eeeeeeee such a compelling listen, low-end pressure and slowly shifting texture carrying the record's weight throughout. A confident continuation from one of dub techno's more distinctive contemporary voices.
