Roundelay came together with Otvaal finding themselves in Georgia in 2023 — Dmitry Gudnichev and Vlad Stepanov, based in London and Georgia respectively, drawing in past collaborators Ilia Mazo and Varvara Kraminova alongside newcomer Ushko to create a record of introspection and reflection with hints of bittersweet nostalgia and cautious optimism looking forward. Limited to 200 copies on clear vinyl, with booklet, insert and sticker pack. Engineered and mixed by Dmitry Gudnichev, mastered by Diana Gorovaya.

The record moves across a multiplicity of genres without losing coherence — plunderphonics techniques already employed in the band's earlier work sit alongside a notable pivot towards Brazilian funk and a sustained commitment to leftfield pop, the whole thing carrying a solemn, happy-sad tint that feels more subdued than their previous output without ever losing personality or intent. Themes of collective isolation, introspection and nostalgia run throughout, the mood oriented less toward dwelling on past mistakes than toward the new possibilities lying ahead. A good entry point for Otvaal, and a quietly affecting one.
