Minor Science joins Catalonia-based record label Balmat with the release of ‘Absent Friends Vol. III‘, the third instalment in a shape-shifting series, presenting a pillowy ambient contrast to his club leaning output.

The album’s theme is described as “psychedelia and togetherness, universal cornerstones of virtually any experience of dance music”, which are readily apparent when you sample the video for “Dread the Evening“, as kaleidoscopic images mix with the lush ambient soundscapes.

Launched in 2021, Balmat is a collaboration between Lapsus Records founder Albert Salinas and American journalist Philip Sherburne. The label grew out of Lapsus Radio, a weekly show on Spain’s Radio 3 and has since released albums from a plethora of artists including Russian producer Hoavi, American musician Patricia Wolf, Planet Mu label boss Mike Paradinas as µ-Ziq.
