For the last twenty years, Kosmischer Pitch existed only as a digital download — a long-lost vinyl album finally restored to physical form right on time for its twentieth anniversary. Originally released in 2005 on ~scape, Jan Jelinek's remastered reissue on his own Faitiche imprint marks a significant moment for one of the most evocative and immersive records in his catalogue.
Kosmischer Pitch represents a deliberate shift in Jelinek's sound. Unlike the glitch-heavy micro-sampling work he produced under aliases like Farben, this album leans into warm, looping textures, hazy drones and hypnotic rhythms — the title itself referencing kosmische musik, the experimental German electronic and progressive rock scene of the 1970s. Jelinek's signature abstract sampling techniques remain, but integrated into a more organic, almost hallucinatory feel reminiscent of Cluster, Neu! and Harmonia. The result bridges early electronic experimentation and modern ambient minimalism with a fluency few records manage — a quietly essential document, finally back where it belongs.
