Hotel Lauer launches Kitjen with two sides that could not be more different and somehow work as a perfect pairing. Aggas on the A delivers that relentless big bassline — long, draggy single notes, a happy melody and shaky breaks doing exactly what they should, the groove locked in and impossible to resist. The kind of track that gets under your skin within the first sixteen bars and refuses to leave.
Stollice on the flip is an entirely different proposition — kooky, cheesy-bounce 80s videotape soundtrack energy that is so annoyingly catchy it borders on the unforgivable. Italo-disco and italo house filtered through a sensibility that seems to be winking at you from behind the speakers, the whole thing carried off with the kind of deadpan charm that only the best of this tradition achieves. Two sides, two completely distinct moods, one debut release that announces Kitjen as a label with a clear personality and absolutely no interest in playing it straight.
