Smallville welcomes Tom Harris — the Manchester DJ and producer known as Hidden Spheres — to the family with Dreaming, a floating four-tracker that arrives as a logical addition to the label’s extended circle of kindred spirits. A DJ who draws from deep musical knowledge to deliver eclectic, heartfelt sets with house at their core, Harris brings that same warmth and personality to his productions — deep-jackin’, rich with pads and still quirky enough to stand apart. This will lighten up the dark season. Artwork by Stefan Marx, as ever.
Float opens the A-side with the unhurried, immersive quality that the title promises before the title track Dreaming settles into the melodic, pad-rich deep house that defines Harris at his most characteristic. Gowanus and Knights carry the flip with the same warm, quietly distinctive energy — each track a distinct piece of a cohesive and entirely welcome debut on one of deep house’s most beloved imprints.
