Eden Aurelius makes her debut on Short Span with Entre Nous — a beautifully poised collection recorded in Brooklyn, NY that arrives as a genuine statement from one of the more singular talents currently operating within this scene. Emerging out of the heat of summer, the album carries a spectrum of emotional range that evolves across seasons and feels truly contemporary in the best possible sense.
Tight but expansive, languid but with gravitational pull — Entre Nous is built from gossamer and transitory layers of satin, sensory and illusory tones floating rhythmically without sharp edges. There is guidance and gentle control throughout, a remarkable sense of presence and pressure that never tips into aggression. The B-side opens with Ion, a hypnotic and evocative collaboration with Pontiac Streator — formed out of a textural haze, a glistening iridescent light appearing broken through fabric and projecting a blurred image onto the surface nearby. The shared command of rhythm and ambient language between the two artists makes it one of the album's most arresting moments. Mastered and cut by Mike Grinser at Manmade. Art by Lucas Dupuy.
