Eden Aurelius makes her debut on Short Span with Entre Nous — a beautifully poised collection recorded in Brooklyn, NY that arrives as a genuine statement from one of the more singular talents currently operating within this scene. Emerging out of the heat of summer, the album carries a spectrum of emotional range that evolves across seasons and feels truly contemporary in the best possible sense.
Tight but expansive, languid but with gravitational pull — Entre Nous is built from gossamer and transitory layers of satin, sensory and illusory tones floating rhythmically without sharp edges. There is guidance and gentle control throughout, a remarkable sense of presence and pressure that never tips into aggression. The B-side opens with Ion, a hypnotic and evocative collaboration with Pontiac Streator — formed out of a textural haze, a glistening iridescent light appearing broken through fabric and projecting a blurred image onto the surface nearby.
