Basic Channel – Q-Loop is a track by Basic Channel, the hugely influential Berlin-based duo of Moritz Von Oswald and Mark Ernestus. They’re considered pioneers of minimal techno and dub techno, and Q-Loop is a key example of their style.

Q-Loop is deeply atmospheric, hypnotic, and stripped-down. It’s built around looping dub textures, muted kick drums, hazy synth washes, and a relentlessly pulsing groove. The “Q” in the title might reference the quality factor in EQ settings (suggesting a focus on frequencies and resonance), which fits the track’s swirling, filtered sound design.

Q-Loop and the other Basic Channel releases laid the groundwork for huge swaths of modern minimal techno, dub techno (like DeepChord, Echospace), and ambient techno. Their sound remains incredibly influential today, especially among DJs who favor deep, long-building sets.
