In the first episode of Store Talk, Tom Durston speaks to Moiré at Inverted Audio Record Store in Peckham to discuss the launch of his new imprint, RISK, and the concept behind its debut release, RISK001.
Known for standout releases on Werk Discs, Avenue 66, Spectral Sound and Rush Hour, Moiré talks through the making of the EP — from the stripped-back, monochromatic sound palette to the tension between experimental sound design, modular synthesis and drums that defines the record. The conversation also explores why now felt like the right moment to establish a new label, what creative freedom RISK represents, and the intention behind launching with a strictly limited edition of 100 copies.
Precise, hypnotic and quietly futuristic, RISK001 marks a new chapter. Watch the full interview to hear the story behind the release and what’s next for the label.
