Inverted Audio founder Tom Durston returns with the fourth instalment of Store Selects, filmed live from the record store in Peckham.
This episode traces a line between contemporary dub techno, archival minimalism and ambient-leaning electronics — leaning into the deeper end of the spectrum throughout. As with previous editions, the focus stays on new arrivals, offering a direct link between editorial curation and what's physically on the shelves.
Leading the selection is Lb Honne's new album 'Groundwatcher Pt.1, a release that marks a decisive shift in the artist's trajectory. Out via St. Odes - the label he runs alongside Ben Kaczor - it moves away from fluid house structures into submerged dub techno and minimal frameworks.
Max Hytrek's Soundtrek project continues its exploration of ambient techno with its second release. Limited to 100 copies and a UK exclusive for Inverted Audio, it draws from Kompakt's lineage while maintaining a contemporary restraint - looping motifs, soft rhythmic movement and a focus on slow, immersive development.
Revisiting foundational material, Jan Jelinek's Farben alias returns with a remastered collection of works originally released between 1998 and 2002. Restored from DAT tapes by Rashad Becker, Texstar+ captures the precision and reductionism that defined the micro-house movement — still resonating with remarkable clarity decades on.
One copy remaining. Mad Rider's debut vinyl release 'fmrann8' came out in 2024 on Salzburg-based label vierundvierzig. Written across lockdown and its aftermath, the record navigates a tension between introspection and club functionality - moving through downtempo, dub techno and deep house with a measured, atmospheric touch.
Rounding out the episode is a cornerstone of Kompakt's early catalogue. Built on hypnotic loops and incremental progression, Dettinger's Intershop remains a defining statement of minimal techno's emotional potential.
Store Selects continues to bridge recommendation and access — a direct view into what's new, noteworthy and worth your time. All records featured in this episode are available via the Inverted Audio Record Store.
